AUA2021 Virtual Frequently Asked Questions

General and Attendee

Why did the AUA decide to transition its Annual Meeting from a hybrid format to a fully virtual format?
Like many of you, the AUA has been closely monitoring evolving factors related to the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly with regard to the rising trajectory of the delta variant and its impact on the urology community. We realize this pandemic poses a significant public safety threat and hits the medical community particularly hard. We see that reflected in the strain on our institutions and medical professionals as they once again are called to care for patients at unprecedented levels.

There is no higher priority for the AUA than supporting our members and the medical community during challenging times. Based on the decisions being made by institutions that affect the ability of our speakers, moderators and presenters to attend the Annual Meeting in person, and in recognition of concerns about safety, the AUA Board of Directors has decided to make the 2021 AUA Annual Meeting a fully online, virtual experience to take place September 10-13, 2021.

I am registered to attend the Annual Meeting in person. Will I receive a refund?
In response to this unexpected shift in delivery format, the AUA will be proactively transferring all Platinum and Gold (in-person) registration packages to the Silver and Bronze (virtual) packages. AUA members will receive a credit for the remaining balance of their paid fees, which will be applied toward their 2022 AUA membership dues. Non-members will have credit applied toward AUA2022 registration. The Silver registration package will provide full digital access to AUA2021 scientific sessions including more than 40 Instructional courses, as well as virtual access to the May Kick-off Weekend and Summer School course recordings. The Bronze registration package will providefull digital access to AUA2021 scientific sessions and virtual access to the May Kick-off Weekend.

Will attendees be refunded for hotel costs?

Will attendees be able to get a refund for their airline tickets?
The AUA will not refund individual airline ticket costs and you should cancel your airline ticket directly with the appropriate carrier. Each airline has its own policies regarding refunds. You will need to work with your airline carrier directly.
